Born in 1928, the author has lived his life in the area between the New Forest and the sea. Educated locally, his working life has included employment as a factory machinist, laboratory assistant, jobbing gardener, grower, shopkeeper, landscape contractor, country estate manager and in semi-retirement, head groundsman at a well known New Forest hotel. He also served in the RAF for two years. Married with four children and seven grandchildren, he has over the years been heavily involved in voluntary activities, including twenty-five years in youth club management and twenty-four as a magistrate. He is a holder of the Royal Observer Corps Medal. With a great interest in young people, he has assisted his wife in the care of over thirty foster-children. He was for several years chairman of Lymington Writers Circle is now chairman/secretary of FRIENDS OF THE NEW FOREST AIRFIELDS, the voluntary group that erected the memorial on the old Holmsley South airfield near Bransgore.

His interest in all things aeronautical led him to write his first published work, THE LURE OF THE BLUE, followed by THE HOLMSLEY STORY, MY CORNER, written to mark the Millennium, ONE BOY’S WAR, and LIFE WITH THE LID OFF. He is at present engaged in a follow up to MY CORNER and a novel, CINDERTIP ROW.
